Materials
- Full grain leather: gains a patina, can be repaired, improves with use. Dislikes prolonged damp.
- Synthetic leather: copes better with rain and holds its look. Not a second choice, a different one.
- Nylon and canvas: most resistant to heavy use and easiest to clean.
A point that almost never appears on a product page: the strap anchor points. That is where crossbody bags give way, not in the fabric. A riveted metal ring holds; a plain seam onto the lining does not.
