Choose by use, not by looks
The most common mistake is choosing from the photo. Format decides daily use far more than colour or material, and a badly sized bag ends up in a cupboard however good it looks.

Materials and how long they last
- Full grain leather: takes on a patina and can be repaired, but dislikes prolonged damp.
- Synthetic leather: handles rain better and keeps its look longer. Not a second choice, a different one.
- Nylon and canvas: the most resistant to heavy use, and the easiest to clean.
One detail the product pages rarely mention: the lining. A stitched textile lining holds the shape and can be replaced. A glued lining lifts in the heat and leaves the bag beyond saving even when the outside is intact. On a bag over one hundred euros, it is the first thing to look at inside.
