The fine strap, for small pieces
Not all replacement straps are equal, because not all bags weigh the same. This one is about a centimetre wide: it is a strap for a clutch, a small satchel or a light shoulder bag. On a bag loaded with a laptop it would cut into the shoulder.
Adjustable from 95 to 124 cm
The pin buckle gives notch-by-notch adjustment, from shoulder to cross-body depending on your height. It is a firm setting that does not slip as you walk, unlike a sliding buckle.
Leather and gold-tone hook
The strap is leather, with a swivelling gold-tone snap hook at each end. The swivel matters: it stops the strap twisting when you move the bag from one shoulder to the other.
Four tones
The most neutral, it goes with everything.
A warm brown, the one in the photograph. Matches tan leathers.
A red brown, more pronounced. For those who want the strap to show.
A deep grey, more discreet than black on a light bag.
What to check first
Two things. The width: this strap is fine, check that your bag’s rings are not made for 25 or 38 mm. And the weight you carry: past two kilos, take a wide strap instead.
