The belt you only notice when it is wrong
Nobody compliments a belt. A buckle that is too big, leather that ripples, or a tone that clashes with the bag, on the other hand, are seen immediately. A good belt is one that is forgotten, and that goes along with the rest without trying to exist.
Pin buckle, the fastening that does not date
The pin goes through an eyelet, that is all. No ratchet mechanism that eventually slips, no magnetic logo plate. It is the oldest and the most reliable fastening, and it can be adjusted with a punch if your size changes.
Four combinations, buckle and strap chosen separately
The most discreet pairing, the one that works everywhere with dark shoes.
Soft contrast. The dark buckle calms a warm brown leather.
The office classic, to match the hardware on your bag.
The dressiest of the four, to wear with brown.
PU leather, stated plainly
The strap is PU leather. It is not cowhide, and the price says so. What PU genuinely brings here: an even tone along the whole length, good behaviour in the rain, and cleaning with a damp cloth. What it will not do is develop a patina over the years the way full-grain leather does: it will keep the look it has today.
Choosing the length without getting it wrong
Measure a belt you already wear, from the base of the buckle to the hole you actually use. That is the only reliable measurement, trouser size is not enough. The strap can be trimmed at the buckle end if needed.
One point about the buckle
The buckle carries English text engraved into the metal, visible up close. It is an original finish and it cannot be removed. We would rather tell you here than let you find out when you open the parcel.
